British Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad
The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) is now well established with over 40 countries taking part in 10 days of events, ceremonies and social activities. Events cover theory, data analysis and practical observing, and really stretch all the teams. In 2016, the UK team came back with gold, silver and bronze medals and ranked 6th overall - an excellent result - and the process for selecting the next team is now beginning.
So, if you like a challenge, or know of anyone who has a flair for astronomy who might like to get involved, have a good look at the BAAO website. The first round to select the British team starts in September, but you should sign up for the newsletter soon to make sure you are kept informed.
