We have some exciting news to share, the newly created Annie Maunder Prize for Image Innovation has been launched, the winner will receive £750!

To enter this category of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition, you don’t need to be an experienced astrophotographer or even take your own photographs. Instead, this prize is all about how you can transform publicly available images and display the wonders of the universe in a fresh light.

The prize will focus on how you process and innovate these publicly available images, you can mix and match different kinds of light, (read about our available filters here), to showcase some of the amazing features found in space. The possibilities are endless, the only limit is your imagination.

Click on the following links to see what objects are available to download and transform now!

You can of course choose your own search criteria from all our available observations. These pages may take longer than usual to load, we have lots of observations in our archive!

The competition closes early March, see our Image of the Month gallery to help you get inspired and don’t forget you can also enter our monthly competition with the same images #nso_comp

Good Luck!
