On Monday 17th July we welcomed our Schools' Observatory Champions to Liverpool for the annual summer meeting.

The Schools' Observatory Champions are teachers and education professionals who give their time to help guide the direction and development of The Schools' Observatory.

The day was a mix of discussion and presentations. Topics of discussion included development of The Schools' Observatory's online CPD offer for teachers as well as the new 5-year Strategy. The Champions also saw how the team create their information videos and had a go at creating a story board for a new video. Champions were asked to choose a topic based on questions or comments from their students. So, watch out for new videos on 'Why do we put telescopes in space?', 'How do we look for life in space?', and 'Why doesn't the Universe have an edge?'!

At the end of the day, Champions  heard from New Robotic Telescope systems engineer, David Copley. David gave a really interesting and informative account of the design process for the new huge robotic telescope, which builds on the expertise and knowledge of the Liverpool Telescope and the Gran Telescopio Canarias teams. 

The day finished with a well-deserved and very tasty meal in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter.
