Primary Christmas Lecture

The children loved hunting for presents and mapping these on the galaxy map...it was great to join in!

The best part for me is how this event breaks down stereotypes for children as they got to see a variety of people, who are all engaged and working in scientific fields.

Children loved the Yoga session! Engaged the boys especially!

Join the National Schools’ Observatory and Astrophysicists from Liverpool John Moores University on a journey through space.

For the 3rd year running, we broadcast a festive space-themed event for children aged 7 – 11. Last year’s event was watched by over 7000 pupils, this year that number was was over 13,000!

Learn about habitability across the Solar System and how there is ‘Snow Place Like Home’ on our unique but fragile planet, expect fun facts, exciting demonstrations.

Resources to accompany the event

in the lead-up to the event, why not try our Life on Earth activity? Then email a photo of the planets your class designed to SchoolsObs@ljmu.ac.uk or tag us on social media. We will showcase some of the best at the start of the show.

Children can keep track of all the new facts and knowledge they gain during the event using our worksheet. Download and print enough for everyone in advance.
